Partners in Pursuing Good & Peace

“Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.  He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.”

1 Peter 3:10-11 (Psalm 34)

Sometimes it is difficult to know what one person can do to turn away evil, do good and pursue peace, so we look for other people of peace who are doing good and we join in their efforts of peacemaking and justice. Over the past week, we have witnessed unthinkable violence, injustice, and division in our cities. What can we do to bring some good to an area that is hurting?  Businesses that are vital for the people in these communities have been destroyed, leaving many without access to basic necessities.  Over the years we have served alongside of Pastor Walt from City View Church in Minneapolis. I will be meeting with him and other pastors this week to pray and plan how we can help in the weeks ahead to bring compassion and hope to the hurting. We will again be partnering with City View to bring food and meals to the people that they serve on a daily basis in the city of Minneapolis.  Specific plans are still being worked out but for now you can help by donating non-perishable food items, such as:

Spaghetti Sauce & Noodles – Canned Soups & Beans – Peanut Butter & Jelly – Boxes of Cereal –

Kid-Friendly snacks (individually wrapped) – Crackers – Juice Boxes – Bags of Chips (individual & family)

Drop these items off at the Ministry Center front door and I will schedule their delivery

I will let you know as soon as I can if and how we can be involved in clean-up projects, community meals (setting up in their parking lot – 3041 4th Ave. S., Mpls. 55408) and for times of prayer.

Partnerships:

We believe in the value of partnering with existing organizations that are set up to serve people in our community on a regular basis.  Visit these websites to discover ways to help serve our cities with our common desire to turn away evil, do good and pursue peace:

“Seek the peace & prosperity (welfare & good) of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”Jeremiah 29:7

We are aliens and foreigners to this world but we are called to live and seek the peace!
