Draw Near – Pastor Scott Peterson

Draw Near - Pastor Scott Peterson

Spiritual Distancing many people choose to isolate when things are difficult; we distance ourselves from God for a variety of reasons and we often pull away from the ones we love (and who love us) because we don’t want them to see our struggle, our pain or our weakness.  God would have us do the opposite when we are feeling alone, discouraged or in need of finding strength.

So, let us draw near to the One who satisfies & strengthens our soul.

Let us draw near to God, our refuge, strength and always present help:

Psalm 46:1-3 & Psalm 73:28 (NIV)

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

Those who are far from God perish, but those who draw near find salvation:

But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge…

We draw near to You God, seeking Your presence and strength for our souls.

Song lyric from: It is well“Through it all, through it all my eyes are on You. Through it all, through it all, it is wellSo let go my soul & trust in Him; the waves & wind still know His Name. It is well with my soul.” Copyright: Bethel Music

Can you say & sing “It is well with my soul”? Will we pray this for others?

Let us continue to encourage one another in our spiritual growth:

Colossians 3:14-17 (ESV)

Above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Lord Jesus, help us to find the peace of Your reign in our hearts as we submit to the rule of Your Word.

Encourage us to dwell in Your presence richly as we study Your Word & sing Your praises!
