Daily Grind – Ecclesiastes 2:17-26

Eat and drink and find satisfaction in your work

Quick review of Ecclesiastes 1-2:

1:1-11 = Introduction & overview (sweeping search)

1:12-18 = Test of knowledge & wisdom

2:1-16 = Test of pleasure & self-indulgence

2:17-26 = Test of toil & work

Toilsome test: daily toil (griefs) & God’s gifts

Two critical considerations:

• Skills & striving: 2:17-23 – grievous

The work that was done under the sun was grievous to me.

 

• Rest & reward: Eccl. 2:24-26 – gracious

To the one who pleases Him, God gives knowledge & happiness
