What’s In Your Pile?

What’s in your pile? You know… the pile that’s gonna burn?

The pile that you put so much hope in. The pile where lots of time goes.

The pile where your talent, money, relationships, dreams live.

What’s in your pile that’s gonna burn?

Success? Fame? Control? Security?

Or maybe it’s the opposite – depression, self-hate, critical spirit. All negative things that can bring a warped sense of comfort.

Think back to a time when you had it all together. Was your bank account full? Or maybe just your gas tank. Maybe you were in your prime in the looks/physical fitness area. Maybe you’re in a situation where your experience is paying dividends. Maybe it’s right now… life is good and you’re feeling drop the mic worthy

Switch it up – what’s it look like when that disappears? An accident happens or disease strikes and the physical is gone. Your identity is robbed and the result is a mess to untangle and finances are gone. Your experience is looked at as tired – someone new, young comes in and your job is gone.

What’s left?

Switch it up again – can you ask for it? Can you ask Him to burn it up so

ALL YOU HAVE LEFT IS HIM?

What if you prayed: “What ever it takes Lord to bring me to my knees totally dependent on You…let my knees land on the Foundation that is You”.

Burn it

Pride. Wealth. Looks. Talents. Winning records. Stuff.

Burn it up

Crazy thing is you don’t have to ask. This fallen world will take care of it for you.

Then what do you got?

Him

 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.  I Corinthians 9:11-13
