God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise

Types of Covenants: Biblical & Personal

Covenants of Grace and Promise:

1. Abrahamic Covenant – a people by grace (15-18)

The promises spoken to Abraham

“I will” & “I am” –God (Gen. 12, 15, 17)

 

2. Mosaic Covenant – blessings by obedience (19-21)

The law put in effect through angels by a mediator

“We will” –God’s people (Ex. 19:8)

 

3. New Covenant – new hearts by faith (22)

The promise given through faith in Jesus Christ

“I will” –LORD God (Jer. 31:31 & Heb. 8)
