Stop & Speak
“I see you Kylie!”
It was moments before the start of the Indoor Big Ten 60 meter finals, Kylie was getting in her start position ready for the race when she heard those words break the silence, shouted by her dad: “I see you!” translation: I believe in you. Words of energy and confidence. Words of life. The gun went off and 7.something seconds later it was over. We all stared at the scoreboard as the finish was too close to tell. Minutes later it flashed up: Peterson – 3rd place. Her shoulders dropped as she walked to the medal stand and took her place on the 3rd step. Ten minutes later I found her, crying, upset as she threw her medal down. See she was expected to get 2nd place and her coach had just finished yelling at her for getting 3rd.
In the Big Ten.
C’mon.
Words of disappointment and defeat.
The coach is a good guy he was just being a coach, but isn’t that true of this world? This fallen world we live in, kicks us when we’re down and slaps us upside the head when we’ve already got headache. The words we hear each day are mocking, crazy hateful words as the culture spins out of control.
You can see it in the eyes of the people you pass every day. In the grocery store, at the cubicle next to you, even at the stop lights.
Weariness. Worry. Hopelessness. Sadness. Despair.
It’s all there – everywhere.
And we walk around with Living Water, but we are too weary, worried, hopeless, sad and in despair ourselves to give it out. And we’re busy. So pickin’ busy.
When Jesus walked the earth no one was in as much as demand or as under appreciated as He was. Everywhere He looked people needed Him. And He stopped and He spoke words of life, but you know – He had a direct line to supernatural power… if only we had that…sigh.
Let’s speak words of life LivingWaters!
Stop, look around and speak words of life into those around us.
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13,14
